New Year’s Eve

I can’t believe in less than 5 hours the year 2017 will be here. I am excited for the coming year because of the new opportunities, new possibilities and more time to spread Hope. I started this blog this year and I am not looking back. More post, more outfits, more adventures……and possibly some additions to my little family.

Thank you to all my readers. I promise  2017 will be worth liking, commenting, sharing and subscribing.

Cheers to 2017

Bye Bye Black Suit

Can you believe Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK?  The holidays are upon us and before we know it 2017 will be here! This has been a fantastic year thus far and I am excited for whats to come, but we have to get through the holiday season of 2016 i.e. the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center…just to name a few things.

In order to survive the holidays your attire to say the least should be in order. You should be comfortable, yet stylish. Leave those boyfriend jeans at home and dress up a bit. I promise you it will lift your spirits and receiving compliments always helps *wink wink*. Try a suit for instance. No, not the black corporate interview suit, but one with a fun print. Fashion rules are a thing of the past, so get out of your comfort zone. Remember suits are also meant to be worn separately as well. Trust me you will thank me later!

I had the pleasure of visiting a museum in Washington, DC. Not just ANY museum, but the National Museum of African American History and Culture . This museum was everything I thought it would be and more. I feel extremely blessed once again because tickets are sold out until March 2017! The weather was great and the exhibits were even better.

The museum starts off with the way African Americans came to the United States of American and how we’ve over came over the years. From Women’s Rights, to the Afro and soooo much more. Of course it was crowded, but I am proud of who I am and  I felt like I was living through history with people that cared about our future. I can go on and on and on, but I will let the pictures do the talking.

If you ever get a chance to go to this particular museum dress comfortably and as always fashionably. I decided to wear flats instead of sneakers and jeans. Bodysuits are back along with vintage leather jackets. To complete my outfit I wrapped kente cloth around multicolor braids.

Big Chunky Sweater

In NYC at this current moment it is now 45 degrees. Last week it was 80 degrees. We went from experiencing  Indian summer to Winter with a possibility of snow any day now. Every one is rushing to get their coats out of storage, sweaters cleaned, boots purchased and lent picked off last years hats. Its cold!!!!! The type of cold you want to curl up with hot cocoa, a big chunky sweater and read fashion magazines.

When I was younger my mother pulled out this AMAZING big black and white almost salt and pepper like sweater and I said to myself “I just struck gold.” This sweater was nothing I’ve ever seen before. It was big, chunky, warm and all mines. I’ve planned outfits around that sweater! One day I decided to wear the sweater and lets just say I’ve been “borrowing” it from that moment on. The sweater is much older than me and I plan on passing it on to my daughter one day, if she can pry it out my hands.

How to wear a romper in the winter

Thursday, January 14th was my birthday and I decided to break all the “rules.” I wore a romper and white shoes. To be more specific I wore a velvet romper and white booties. The days of wearing shorts only in the summer and no white shoes after Labor Day are over!

I LOVE a statement earring especially from J.Crew . While in Soho I stumbled upon a cute boutique and found this Honey Punch “It’s Just A Lil’ Crush Velvet Romper”. I love the description. My tights are a vintage steal! The shoes, my white Steve Madden booties were a perfect addition.

“How can I wear this outfit in the winter”….Make sure you wear tights. I live in NYC and it is now 22 degrees outside. Yes, 22. To keep warm wear a long heavy coat and layer with a hat, scarf and gloves. Stay chic and warm!

I LOVE Denim

My birthday is this Thursday January 14th! To start the celebration I’ve decided to do and wear some of my favorite things. One of my favorite things to wear is DENIM. From low end at Old Navy to premium by 3×1 I could wear denim everyday all day.

I purchased this Topshop dress in the fall and its been sitting in my closet. “I’m going to wear it, I’m going to wear it.” Finally I’ve worn it. I decided to style my denim overall dress with a collarless tuxedo white shirt. I am a fan of white shirts. You can NEVER EVER EVER have too many. Boots are huge in the winter, especially black and over the knee. As you may already know I love a statement earring. I pulled the whole outfit together with a pair of  vintage circular black and white button earrings and an oversized velvet bow barrette.InstaSize_0111120332InstaSize_0111120616
